Live Bait Deer Hunting at Ohio Whitetail Deer Outfitters

Live Bait Deer Hunting - Hot Does

Use real (LIVE) Whitetail Deer (does in heat) to bring in the bucks!

Every One knows that the buck activity increases during rut and it's great if you are fortunate enough to have a "hot" doe running around your stand, with a buck trailing along behind. How many hunters would use that age old habit to their advantage, if they could control it? Now for a little bit of history, a sister company, White Oak Inc., has been raising Whitetail and offering hunts on high fenced property for over 20 years, and with our large land holdings, a large herd of privately owned wild Whitetail and our knowledge of deer hunting we intend to isolate several does per enclosure, without a buck, so they will come into estrus every 28 days, free ranging bucks will be pulled to these groups of hot does, it will be good in November, it will be even better in December. January will depend on several things, mainly the December weather and body conditions of the free ranging bucks. There will be up to 4 herds of does kept on out lying perimeter fences, we own the ground out side also. The tree stands will be placed there. Doe in heat urine, mock scrapes, scent lines, bleat calls, and the like are popular and very productive, but based on what we have seen over the years, concentrated does while in heat will pull in the bucks and increase activity like you have never seen before. It is this unique "live bait" hunting that we are very well suited to offer on a very limited basis. I believe the hunting success opportunity will be higher and the bucks will be going wild trying to get in! I have seen it before, the trail cameras tell us the big boys only move at night, the hot does will increase day light buck activity and concentrate there travel and bedding areas thus increasing shot opportunities. We can only accommodate 1 or 2 hunters at a time and the estimated time to hunt would be first two weeks of November, first 2 weeks of December, and first two weeks of January. We will vary the age of the does in the enclosures so we should have staggered estrus cycles and a longer total time of estrus scent. The hunts will be up to 5 days and scent control and camo are a must. The does will be fed three times a day with a time controlled feeder and the feeding location will be against the out side fence line, when they smell good and they are only a few feet away, the buck or bucks will be distracted. Bring your favorite climber and plan on being in your tree stand all day. The November hunts are archery only, the December hunts are gun or archery for the first week of December, archery only for the second week of December, and archery only for January.

A "Hot Doe" provided the shot opportunity on this Monster Buck that scored 212" gross Boone & Crocket. This was the largest of the three bucks on the doe, my son Adam, a very accomplished deer hunter and guide who was present during the hunt said one of the other two bucks was the largest main frame 8 pointer he has ever seen.

Here is proof of what a "hot doe" can produce.
2009 200 class buck!

This is a unique type of hunting, with very high operating cost for the outfitter and potentially large and numerous bucks being drawn to these doe herds for the hunter. I must admit, I have never done this intentionally before, but, I have seen this situation many times on my deer ranch. With free ranging bucks trying to get in, I have seen as many as 8 bucks at one place, one time, that was some thing to see, I have seen 3 to 5 bucks at a time many times.

The November hunt should be pretty good, but there is a lot of free ranging does to compete with so it's hard to say just how many bucks will be around. I feel the second rut, early December will be very good, my hot does will have very little competition from the local girls. The same will be true in the January estrus cycle. In my experience, bucks will shed antlers when they lose body condition. The poor condition will cause the hormones to drop, and then antlers drop. So depending on a bucks condition and how severe the weather in winter will dictates how many bucks will still be wearing antlers in January, around here usually over 50% are still packing, the upside, there is almost no other does in the county that are in heat!

These hunts are very limited availability, they are up to 5 days, this is for 1 Buck - no does. This hunt is for the very serious buck hunter. The cost is $4900.00.
Please note: 2010 hunting dates already booked. Very limited avilibility remaining for 2011.
