Lease #5 – South Bowl

Whitetail-Deer-4

This lease is approximately 140 acres with a lot of pasture and a center “bowl” area that is big mature timber. There are a lot of ravines with benches along with timber and brush that allow the deer to move great distances without showing themselves. Good stand placement is a must as the benches and deep ravines make great funnels not only for the deer, but for the turkeys as well. Sometimes I just put out a decoy and don’t even have to call. Two years ago I guided a client on this piece that the first morning we had 7 gobblers at 10 yards (he missed) and on the 2nd morning we had 6 gobblers at 15 yards (he got one this time). Although I have other farms that I enjoy hunting just as much as this one, this farm has produced the most big bucks for me over the years.

As a hunting guide and outfitter, I am very proud of the fact that of all the clients, friends, and family members I have guided over the years, they ALL have either passed up shots, missed or harvested deer on my managed and protected properties. I have a 100% shooting opportunity record! I started guiding professionally in the late 80’s and as far as I know I was the 1st full time, professional native whitetail outfitter in Ohio. So not trying to blow my own horn, I feel the need to stress my track record as a way of saying I know what I am doing when managing property to produce deer. I know where to place stands to harvest those deer, and this knowledge and experience goes with these leases.
