Baited Early Season Archery Deer Hunts at Ohio Whitetail Deer Outfitters

Pre Rut activity, this is a great time to entice Bucks with mock scrapes. Scent lines could work well also. You will have an automated corn feeder dispensing corn one hour after day light and one hour before dark. There should be good local doe activity, which increases Buck activity. This time of year there will be a lot of natural feed competition, clover pasture and acorn will be plentiful on most of the parcels.

In Ohio, we get some beautiful Indian summer weather in October, so some of those warm days will slow down the evening deer movement, but makes for great fishing in the mid day. Remember, we provide a private lake for those who want to fish. Early October is a tougher hunt with all the foliage still on the branches and warmer weather and an abundance of food, but, the deer have seen little or no hunting pressure and the weather is usually great. October is my personal favorite. I can hunt, fish and trap if I can only find the time or energy! The full moon decreases deer movement in the morning and evening – warm afternoon decreases movement mid day, so I would not recommend the October full moon week. The odds are that will be a slow week. The 3rd week is pretty good and the forth week is great. The Bucks are starting to get wound up and few girls to play with, mock scrapes sucker them pretty good at this time. Whitetail Deer hunting includes a full five (5) days of hunting.

What is a semi guided hunt?
Your group will get one or more parcels of land with active, automatic corn feeders, prepared trees for stands and open shooting lanes. I can offer suggestions for hunting the feeders, scrape lines and trails, or you can scout and setup and hunt as you see fit. This is your parcel for the week. Hunt from tree stands, ground blinds, still hunt, rattle, grunt or sit quiet, it’s your call. This type of hunt offers the hunters the most options. It’s not a “one size fits all” hunt.

Most parcels can accommodate 1 or 2 or occasionally even 3 hunters per week. The parcels range from 20 acres to over 150 acres. The parcels to choose from would depend on the number of hunters in your group and the type of land you prefer to hunt. Check out the parcel description for a very detailed description of the property. Book the ones you feel best suit your style of hunting. If you share a parcel, it is only with your hunting buddy, and not strangers. We encourage the “buddy system” here for fun, success and most importantly, safety! After over twenty years of experience guiding Whitetail hunters of all ages, physical ability and experience levels, I have found this type of hunt is the best hunt for most hunters.

Move in and setup on Sunday (mid-morning arrival).
Monday – Friday Deer hunting.
Pull stands and depart on Saturday (noon departure).
Hunting party is a minimum of two (2) hunters. We use “the Buddy System” for safety and enjoyment.
Your group will have your own Bedroom.
You will provide your own meals & hunting license.
Cost of the hunt is $2,200.
